How We Write and Review Our Health Information
Where our health information comes from, how we check it, and what the dates on our pages mean.
Where our information comes from
Every health statement on Hope Integrative Medicine pages is based on current guidance from authoritative sources: national guideline bodies and government health agencies (for example the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the CDC, the National Institutes of Health, FDA drug labels, the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology, the American Diabetes Association and other specialty medical societies), peer-reviewed research and established medical references. We grade sources by authority and do not rely on commercial sites, forums, social media or unattributed content.
How we check it
Before a page or article is published, its factual statements are checked against those sources. After publishing, we re-check pages against current sources and update them when guidelines, drug labels or laws change.
What the dates mean
- Published is when the page or article first appeared.
- Last reviewed is when every factual statement on the page was most recently checked against current sources.
- Updated means the content itself changed.
Who stands behind it
Articles are published by Hope Integrative Medicine staff. Our pages explain health topics in general terms; they are not a substitute for advice from your own healthcare provider about your situation.
